Firstfloor Horry County Schools: Hear from the Students

The new Firstfloor Horry County, energy positive schools have already taught students so much about energy and the impact their schools have on the environment. Follow their journey and see what they’ve learned through this series of student-led videos.

  1. Understand HVAC and its impact from students at Myrtle Beach Middle School.
  2. Learn about watts and understanding energy data from students at St. James Intermediate School.
  3. Learn what the building envelope is from the EnergyWise Club at Socastee Middle School.

The students aren’t the only ones who have been impacted by these energy positive schools in Horry County. In this video teachers express how an energy positive building like St. James Intermediate allows them to meet the needs of all types of learners with more collaborative, purposefully designed spaces.

“They’re not just energy positive buildings, but buildings that will transform the way we think about how we educate students, how teachers teach, and how students learn.” – Robbie Ferris, CEO/President of Firstfloor and SfL+a Architects
