City Gateway Parking Facility

Raleigh, NC

Project Description

Construction is underway on a two-level automated parking facility at City Gateway, marking the second phase of the mixed-use redevelopment at the southern edge of downtown Raleigh. Located at 130 Kindley St., the fully electric facility will provide 228 parking spaces and essential infrastructure to support future phases of the City Gateway vision.

Designed to reduce energy consumption by up to 60 percent compared to a conventional garage, the automated system minimizes vehicle idling, reduces its physical footprint and is equipped to support future electric vehicle adoption. The project advances Raleigh’s Community Climate Action Plan while improving mobility and access into downtown.

The parking facility builds on the momentum established by Mira Raleigh, the first phase of City Gateway, and is a critical component of the site’s long-term, phased development strategy. When complete, City Gateway is planned to include more than 1,400 residential units, a hotel, office space, neighborhood-serving retail and a K–8 charter school, creating a connected district that supports daily life and downtown connectivity.

Beyond its transportation function, the structure is designed to enhance the public realm. Its roof will serve as an open space for residents, workers and visitors, supporting stormwater management, reducing heat island effect and strengthening pedestrian connections across the site. Informed by the history of Raleigh’s Fourth Ward, City Gateway incorporates public-facing elements that honor the surrounding community while positioning the site as a catalyst for equitable investment and long-term growth.
